AP Students: registration for the AP exams will be on Tuesday, March 16-Tuesday, March 23. The cost for each exam $86. You may pay the full amount or make a nonrefundable deposit of $26. If you make the deposit, the balance is due on April 23.

Literary Guild will meet this Friday in Room 247.   The only thing you will need is your enthusiasm for literature.

All Earth Club members are invited to attend our monthly meeting on Wednesday, 3/17 after school in Room 262.  It is very important that Earth Club members attend this meeting, as we will be participating in and planning events important to the environment.   Wear your Earth Club shirts on March 17th…. 

On Monday, March 22nd, all winter athletes that have not turned in an approved           spring sports waiver form must return to their PE classes.

 “Seniors, Jostens will be here at the school to deliver your graduation order on Wednesday,      March 17th during the lunch hours.  To receive your graduation order, your balance must be paid in full on or before the 17th.  Any senior who has not placed a graduation order yet, should see the Jostens representative at this time as well.”

Celebrating its 15th year in Peoria, March Madness has become the pinnacle of events in the Peoria area.  In an effort to increase awareness in the community, actively promoting a positive environment at our events has become a priority.  It is very important to us that our events are fun for all who attend, but also safe.  This starts with each of you!  We have identified areas, much like a code of conduct, where each student can make a positive choice in their life.  Act Right, Dress Right, Speak Right, DO Right!
I will meet the appropriate dress code
I will treat everyone with respect
I will conduct myself as lady or gentleman at all times
I will use positive communication
I will wear my clothing in a respectful manner

New Scholarships:

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association offers $500 to 105 seniors in Illinois who are permanent residents accepted as a full-time college students for the 2010 – 2011 school year.  Applications are in the counseling office or you may download one from www.ilsheriff.org.  Applications must be submitted to Sheriff Michael McCoy’s office by April 12, 2010.

The Steve Maxheimer Memorial Scholarship awards dollars to seniors with strong academic standing planning to attend college next year who have an active interest in golf.  Applications are in the counseling office and must be sent in by April 2, 2010.

Ameren Illinois Utilities offers a renewable $2,500 scholarship to minority students who are either African-American, American Indian, Hispanic, Asian, Alaska Native or a Pacific Islander who plan to major in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering and have a GPA of 2.6 or better. Apply online at www.ameren.com.  You may stop by the counseling office for a list of criteria and instructions to follow once you are at the web site. The deadline is April 9, 2010.

If you plan to attend the University of Illinois in Urbana, you can apply for the 2010 Psi U Scholarship.  You may win one of five awards that total $2,500.  Apply before September 20, 2010 at: www.illinipsiu.com.

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority – Nu Pi Omega Chapter is offering a scholarship for a senior who is a positive role model to youth in African-American communities.  A 2.8 or higher GPA and an ACT score of 16 or higher are required of the winner. Applications are in the counseling office and must be submitted to the sorority by April 15th.

. Good Knights, lend me your ear!  Do you like to give speeches? If so, the Peter H. Clark Elks Lodge #483 Oratorical Scholarship is for you.  You may orate your way to $500 in the bank and the ability to compete at regional, state and national levels for even more college dollars.  Junior or seniors who present a speech to the Lodge are eligible.

Applications are in the counseling office and must be submitted by April 9th.

Sadly, many students at Richwoods have lost loved ones and friends through death. We all grieve when we lose someone who has been important in our lives, whether the loss is unexpected and sudden, or when it comes after an illness. And although grief is normal, it can be very painful and distracting, lasting longer than those around us realize. If you can relate to this message, you might want to join other students who can understand your pain, because they have been there too. A support group of students will meet on Mondays, during the lunch periods. If you are interested, see your counselor or Mrs. Sims in room 329 for a pass. Meetings started during lunch on March 1, in room 329.

Freshman and sophomore baseball tryouts will begin on Monday, March 8th. Sophomores will start at 4:30 and will meet in the terrazzo area. Freshman will start at 6:00 and they will also meet in the terrazzo area. If you have any questions, please see Coach Webb in Room 410 before Monday.
