What do I need to do to be eligible for (and keep) the
Peoria Promise Scholarship?

Live in the Peoria City limits, attend, and graduate from a public school.
Please note you can have a Peoria address and not be eligible for Peoria Promise; you can have a Dunlap address and be eligible.
- Apply to ICC (www.icc.edu): by April 1st if you are attending ICC starting with the fall semester or by September 15th if you are attending ICC starting with the spring semester.
- Apply for the Peoria Promise scholarship (and other scholarships) by going to www.icc.edu/scholarships between January 15th and April 1st if you are attending ICC starting with the fall semester or between June 1st and September 15th if you are attending ICC starting with the spring semester. Please note you must check the Peoria Promise box on the application to be eligible for the Peoria Promise Scholarship. You must apply for the Peoria Promise scholarship each year.
- Apply for and complete the FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov) by June 1st (earlier in the year if possible) if you are attending ICC starting with the fall semester; by September 15th if you are attending ICC starting with the spring semester. You must apply for FAFSA each year.
- Once you complete the ICC and Peoria Promise applications, you will receive a letter from ICC confirming the number of years you were in the public school system. If you question the Length of Attendance benefit (please see the FAQ’s on the reverse side for explanation of Length of Attendance benefit), contact the superintendent’s office of your school district immediately. If a change is to be made, the district office will contact ICC.
- Complete the Academic Placement Test. Call to arrange your test time at any of these three locations.

- Make an appointment for advisement to discuss your plans and build a class schedule.

- Enroll in classes! Enroll early to secure the classes and schedule you want.
- Write and send a thank you letter by August 1st if you are attending ICC starting with the fall semester; by November 1st if you are attending ICC starting with the spring semester. If you do not write an acceptable letter, you will lose your scholarship for the academic year. You must write a thank you letter each year.
- If you are chosen for financial aid verification (for missing, incorrect, or additional information), you must supply the information requested within 2 weeks of receiving the letter from ICC, even if you suspect you are not eligible for any financial aid, or you will lose your scholarship.
- Attend all your classes and maintain a 2.0 GPA or better.
