Richwoods High School’s Gay-Straight Alliance is a meeting place for honest communication about alternate life-styles, with a mission for change, to make our school a safe environment for all. The club is for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning students and their Allies (straight students who want to support LGBT students.) All are welcome. Dues are $2 per year. Club activities include Movie Days, a Speaker forum, supervised social time and participation in nationally-recognized special events, such as the annual Day of Silence, which remembers those LGBT and straight persons who have been murdered due to hate crimes. The club was started by RHS students and is sponsored by Julie Sims, the school social worker.
